During the 22nd Gala of the Polish Product of the Future competition, the AGH-UST was awarded for the project by Magdalena Ziąbka, PhD - "Otoimplant - Middle ear prosthesis with bactericidal activity". The AGH-UST also got the Special Prize of the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
These awards confirm the legitimacy of many years of work and gives us courage to take further actions. Thank you!
All the tasks of the project have been successfully completed.
The funds granted by the National Center for Research and Development as part of the "Leader programme" competition enabled us to carry out a number of works and negotiate the path from the concept to the product. It was a demanding project and from the very beginning we raised the standars high. The experience we gained is capital for the future. During the implementation, we met numerous people who believed in the project. We felt real support from the AGH-UST, the AGH-UST Technology Transfer Office and InnoAGH (Krakow Center for Innovative Technologies). We’d like to express our sincere gratitude to Prof. Jerzy Lis - the Rector of the AGH-UST Cooperation for the support during the whole project. Many thanks to Bogdan Stępniowski, MSc (Director of TTO AGH-UST) and Aleksandra Wojdyla, MSc. (Department of Technology Transfer TTO AGH-UST) for support in developing business models and implementation concepts. Many thanks to Dominik Kowal, PhD (President of InnoAGH) and Magdalena Ostasz, MSc for support in developing team competences and work on commercialization activities. Many thanks to Aleksandra Jędras, MSc (AGH Legal Advisors Team) for support in the field of contracts. Many thanks to Prof. Włodzimierz Mozgawa (Dean of the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics) for helping in promotion the Otoimplant and all supporting activities. Many thanks to Bartosz Ostrowski, MSc (Administrative Director of the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics) for support in managing project finances. Sincere thanks to everyone who supported the Otoimplant team during all works and stood behind us in difficult times. The AGH-UST is definitely a place where you can create innovative technologies.

As a part of the activities connected with the celebrations of Year 2018 as a Year of Polish Science, a multimedia exhibition entitled “Science is Freedom” has been temporarily loaned from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, to be displayed at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tokyo. The exhibition shows 25 greatest achievements of Polish science. The exhibition was presented to more than 100 guests invited to attend the opening ceremony which was held at the Embassy premises on March 13. The event was composed of several presentations and the screening of short video films showing research projects sent by young Polish scientists who took part in the competition for the best project organized by the Embassy.
The winner of the competition for the best project by young Polish scientist was selected through the voting by the audience. The author of the winning project entitled “Otoimplant – middle ear prosthesis - development of composite middle ear prosthesis with bactericidal properties”, is Ms. Magdalena Ziabka from AGH University of Science and Technology. The winner will be invited to come to Tokyo to attend the Science Agora Forum in November this year.

The otoimplant project has been noticed in photojournal issued by the Jagiellonian University Hospital among the most world-shattering surgieries performed in the first half year of 2017th.
On the 6th of April 2017 the first Otoimplant has been implanted. The surgery has been carried out in the Department of Otolaryngology, Jagiellonian University Hospital, Krakow. Innovative shape of prosthesis allowed easy and precise implantation in the middle ear. Indication for ossicles reconstruction was chronic inflammation which caused total destruction of maleus and incus. Prosthesis was placed on remaining head of stape.
